SAINT PETER, MN - The UC Santa Cruz men's team lost 7-0 to No. 39 Carleton College Saturday morning. UCSC was unable to win their second contest of the day against Gustavus Adolphus, losing 6-1. The Slugs now head back to their home state of California for next weekend's contests against Whittier, Caltech and Occidental.
UC Santa Cruz 0, Carleton 7
The Slugs dropped No. 1 doubles 6-4 and No. 2 doubles 6-1 but they were able to pick up a single doubles win off the back of No. 3
Andrew Tjoa and
Mayur Nookala who took their match 6-4. On the singles courts, the Slugs were only capable of picking up two sets with No. 1 Raden Sadeghi winning his second set 6-4, but Sadeghi eventually fell 1-0 (10-6) in the final set of the match. No. 5
Mayur Nookala was able to pick up his first set 6-4 but also fell in three sets, losing the remaining sets 6-2 each.
UC Santa Cruz 1, Gustavus Adolphus 6
Things started off with a clean sweep in the doubles for the Gusties who won 6-2, 7-6 (7-1), 6-0 respectively. The only singles match that the Slugs were able to win was No. 4 Ben Wang, who after dropping the first set 6-2 was able to win the two other sets 6-4. No. 6
Rocco Melendez was the only other Slug to win a set as he won his first 7-5 but unfortunately lost the other two sets 6-1 and 1-0 (10-0).
