Women's Swim and Dive Earns Five Point Victory at La Verne Invite

LA VERNE, Ca. - The UC Santa Cruz women's swim & dive team pieced together a deep and balanced performance at the 2025 La Verne Invite, winning the event with 1,156 points, edging out conference foe CSU East Bay by five points while scoring across all 21 events. The Slugs were led by Kirsten Boyle who added 98 points with Namya Sarup, Katy Hawk, and Maya Chan all putting up big performances, adding 83 points, 74 points, and 72 points, respectively. Notably, Namya Sarup turned in an NCAA B Cut in the 200 breaststroke to highlight the weekend.

In The Results
200 Freestyle Relay: UCSC's relay of Katy Hawk, Medha Raghuraman, Madison Stein, and Phoebe Jaggers combined for a time of 1:36.74 to take eighth while the B team took 13th in 1:38.99.
500 Freestyle: Heather O'Brien took 19th place for UCSC with a time of 5:12.73.
200 IM: Gretta Bellin took sixth in 2:07.12 with Kirsten Boyle taking seventh (2:08.42), while Maya Chan placed 11th (2:09.42) and Lily Wolfinger added a 13th place finish (2:11.57).
50 Freestyle: Katy Hawk was UCSC's top finisher with a 10th place 23.87 in the B Final, followed by Kaia Harriman in 24th (25.01).
400 Medley Relay: UCSC's A squad of Raghuraman, Sadie Breen, Kirsten Boyle, and Hawk took fifth in 3:53.59 while the B relay earned 8th in 3:55.88.
200 Medley Relay: The A relay of Raghuraman, Namya Sarup, Fiona Lei, and Hawk placed seventh in 1:46.79, with the B relay 11th in 1:46.97.
400 IM: Lily Wolfinger took 11th overall with a time of 4:39.87 while Sadie Breen took 14th in 4:44.67.
100 Butterfly: Kirsten Boyle led the way for UCSC in the 100 fly with a time of 58.55 while Siena Ancona took 12th in 58.00 with Fiona Lei taking 16th (58.95).
200 Freestyle: Katy Hawk earned a 10th place finish after touching the wall in 1:53.56.
100 Breaststroke: Namya Sarup led the charge for UCSC, taking second place with a time of 1:05.23 while Wolfinger and Breen took fifth and 12th, touching the wall in 1:05.40 and 1:06.75.
100 Backstroke: UCSC saw Ancona and Hannah Love take 11th and 12th with times of 59.10 and 59.11 while Raghuraman took 16th in 59.93.
800 Freestyle Relay: The relay of Hawk, Breen, Paiten Tobey, and O'Brien took eighth in 7:48.22.
100 IM: The Banana Slugs were dominant in the 100 IM with Maya Chan winning the event in 58.68 while Kirsten Boyle, Katy hawk, Maya Garcia-Hale, and Namya Sarup went 2-6-7-8 in 59.10, 1:01.34, 1:01.73 and 1:07.67. Fiona Lei, Keaton Canaday, Madison Stein, Zoe Ma, and Kaia Harriman also turned in strong performances to contribute to the team score.
1650 Freestyle: Piper Strickler took 14th for UCSC in the 1650, turning in an 18:08.35.
200 Backstroke: Siena Ancona and Hannah Love took fourth and 10th in 2:04.24 and 2:06.10 while Raghuraman took 24th in 2:19.76.
100 Freestyle: Katy Hawk took 11th with a time of 52.82 while Keaton Canaday, Kaitlyn Armstrong, and Medha Raghuraman took 21st, 23rd, and 24th overall.
200 Breaststroke: Namya Sarup took first place with an NCAA B Cut time of 2:19.50 with Kirsten Boyle and Maya Chen going 5-6 in 2:24.50 and 2:24.82 while Wolfinger and Breen took 17th and 20th to add solid efforts to the team's performance.
200 Butterfly: Gretta Bellin took fourth place to lead the way for UCSC with a 2:08.49 while Garcia-Hale took 15th in 2:13.92.
400 Freestyle Relay: The A team of Hawk, Canaday, Raghuraman, and Armstrong combined for a 3:33.15 to take eighth place while the B team turned in a 10th place performance.
1-Meter Dive: The Banana Slugs saw second and third place performances out of Paige Vicente and Taylor O'Malley with the duo scoring 191.35 and 189.75 while Clara Gerlach and Briseis Valenzuela taking sixth and eighth with 172.10 and 163.70 points.
3-Meter Dive: O'Malley and Vicente took 18th and 19th in the 3m dive with 216.80 and 215.90 points while Valenzuela and Gerlach took 21st and 24th with 213.10 and 173.65 points.
