Men's Swim and Dive Earns Victory Over Biola

SANTA CRUZ, Ca. – The UC Santa Cruz men's and women's swim and dive teams swam well against the Biola Eagles with the men earning a 121-117 victory while the women fell 125-111. The Slugs will be back in action February 12th through February 15th as they battle for the PCSC Championship.
 
Women's Meet Highlights
  • 200 Medley Relay: Medha Raghuraman, Lily Wolfinger, Fiona Lei, and Tereza Shea combined for a time of 1:46.88 to take second in the event.
  • 1650 Free: Honour Dufresne swam an 18:04.88 to win the event with Piper Strickler taking second in 18:12.91.
  • 200 Free: Maddy Gruender earned a strong victory in the event with a 1:54.69.
  • 50 Free: Katy Hawk swam to a second place finish, touching the wall in 24.65 seconds.
  • 200 IM: Lily Wolfinger took third overall with a time of 2:12.50.
  • 100 Fly:  Fiona Lei earned the victory after fighting to the wall in 59.51s.
  • 100 Free: Shea and Hawk took first and second with Shea finishing in 52.86s while Hawk touched in 53.40s.
  • 100 Back: Medha Raghuraman and Maddy Gruender took second and third with times of 59.22s and 59.26s.
  • 500 Free: Honour Dufresne and Hannah Love went 1-2 in the event, touching the wall in 5:16.17 and 5:19.33.
  • 100 Breast: Lily Wolfinger and Zoe Gronert took second and third after swimming 1:07.65 and 1:09.08.
  • 400 Free Relay: The Slugs closed out the meet with a victory in the 400 free relay as Shea, Hawk, Gruender, and Kirsten Boyle combined for a time of 3:32.31.
 
Men's Meet Highlights
  • 200 Medley Relay: Asher Kates, Karsten Hsiao, Morgan Madril, amd Kyle Reitan combined for a time of 1:33.39 to take second place overall.
  • 1650 Free: Ido Haiby and Presley Golling took second and third in the mile after turning in performances of 17:08.62 and 17:27.39.
  • 200 Free: Massimo Reyna took home the victory after swimming a 1:41.65.
  • 50 Free: The Slugs swept the podium in the 50 free as Reitan, Andrew Koika, and Charlie Hussain went 1-2-3 in 21.09s, 21.48s, and 21.53s.
  • 200 IM: Kates and Luke Scanlon took second and third with times of 1:55.22 and 1:57.27.
  • 100 Fly:  Madril and Jude Robinson took second and third with times of 50.64s and 51.24s.
  • 100 Free: Bryson Scmid took first with a time of 46.91s.
  • 100 Back: Teo Truong and Kates took second and third in 52.57s and 52.66s.
  • 500 Free: Luke Scanlon and Massimo Reyna took second and third in a tight battle as the pair touched the wall in 4:50.61 and 4:50.81.
  • 100 Breast: Karsten Hsiao won the event in 58.93 seconds.
  • 400 Free Relay: The relay team of Reitan, Kent Nishida, JJ Stoen, and Schmid combined for a time of 3:07.01 to take first overall to cap off the meet.
  • 1m Dive: Charlie Shortt took third with 203.70 points.
  • 3m Dive: Shortt took third with 173.95 points.
