ATHERTON, Ca. – UC Santa Cruz men's basketball faced a challenging road test at Menlo College, falling 75-58 on Tuesday evening. Despite flashes of brilliance and a solid first half, the Banana Slugs could not overcome Menlo's momentum in the second half.
How It Happened
UCSC started the game with energy, building an early 18-13 lead in the first quarter after getting and hitting a few good looks. However, Menlo responded with a 9-2 run to take the lead, ending the first half with a 37-26 advantage.
In the second half, the Banana Slugs battled to stay within striking distance. UCSC narrowed the gap midway through the period, but Menlo capitalized on turnovers and extended their lead in the final minutes, ultimately securing the victory.
Zino Okah led UCSC with 18 points, eight rebounds, four steals, and two blocks, showcasing his versatility.
Andrew Ferrara-Jones added 14 points, while Joe Espy contributed 10 points and five rebounds.
The Banana Slugs will look to regroup and return to the win column as they host Cal Lutheran University on Saturday, November 30th, at 6:30 PM.
