THOUSAND OAKS, CA. – The UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs fough to a 1-1 draw against the reigning National Champions, Cal Lutheran University on Saturday, extending their record to 5-2-5. A goal from
Camille Anneet in the second half secured the result for UCSC.
How It Happened
In the first half, UCSC controlled much of the game with six shot attempts, five of which were on target. They also earned three corners but were unable to convert those opportunities. Goalkeeper
Ainsley Gove made four key saves to keep the match scoreless going into halftime.
The Banana Slugs broke the deadlock in the 56th minute with a goal from
Camille Anneet. However, Cal Lutheran equalized late in the match with a goal in the 84th minute. Despite six more shot attempts in the second half, UCSC could not reclaim the lead, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
