Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Six goal barrage helps women's soccer beat Jessup

Six different Banana Slugs found the net as the UC Santa Cruz women's soccer team defeated William Jessup 6-0 this Wednesday at the Lower East Field.
The Banana Slugs improved to 3-2-2 this year after their second home win in a row.

Amanda Scott opened with a goal in the 15th minute, a one-touch shot six yards away, assisted by Camille Anneet and Emily De Los Santos. After the teams had even possession for a few minutes, the Banana Slugs got their second goal five minutes before halftime when Angela Bradbury connected off Anneet's corner kick.

It took less than 30 seconds in the second half to make it 3-0 when Eissa Quinones sent a rebound into the top 90 for her first career goal. Chelyn Ackerman made it 4-0 in the 58th minute when her blast from 12 yards went under the Jessup goalkeeper. Sydney Boyd scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season on a left-footed shot in the 71st minute. First year Michelle Matta completed the final goal in the 81st minute off a header from De Los Santos's corner kick.

Both Anneet and De Los Santos had a career-high three assists in the win. "I've been working on getting more involved in the game," Anneet said after the game. "I'm glad we were able to execute, so I'm really happy."
"It was a really great showing today," said Boyd. "Players making stuff happen and super fun combinations. I'm glad we got to show it off today."

Amelia Brown made a save in each half for the shutout. Overall, UC Santa Cruz finished with a 24-5 shot advantage over the Warriors, who are moving to NCAA Division II next season. UC Santa Cruz finishes the week playing at Bay Area rival Menlo on Friday morning.
