WHITTIER (3-26) -- Playing their first dual in over a month, UC Santa Cruz women's tennis showed no signs of rust as they turned in a dominant 8-1 win over Whittier on Sunday.
The Banana Slugs improve to 5-2 in duals this season, with a perfect 4-0 this Spring.
UC Santa Cruz took a 2-1 lead after the doubles, with No. 1 pair
Sara Beckman and
Natalie Sprenger finishing an almost flawless match with an 8-0 score.
The team was then a perfect 6-0 in singles, all in straight sets.
Jolie Seemayer took her match at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-0 score.
Tanner Rowland followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win, and Sprenger and
Meghana Damojipurapu both picked up 6-1, 6-1 victories to clinch the match.
Daniela Christian finished the afternoon with a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 5 to remain undefeated in the Spring.
The road warriors next pick up the rackets Monday morning when they face No. 39 Grinnell College of Iowa in Thousand Oaks.
