In front of nearly 200 fans at the Lower East Field, UC Santa Cruz men's soccer played even with the nation's second-ranked team. However, Mary Washington got a goal in each half to end up 2-0 victors in the Coast-To-Coast (C2C) Conference Tournament semifinal.

The top-seeded Eagles had their chances early. In the 12th minute, UMW had a shot from the middle of the box, but
Luca Bravo was in the right place to deflect the ball off the line for a corner.
Down 1-0 at the break, UC Santa Cruz turned up the intensity in the second half.
Tyler Allred had a great chance in the 73rd minute that was saved by Mary Washington's goalkeeper.
Torin Volkamer had another opportunity a minute later that was scrambled away for a corner kick.
The Banana Slugs had plenty of chances in the final minutes. Bravo sent a right-footed blast from the edge of the box in the 83rd minute, but it was saved. There were a pair of Banana Slug corners in the 86th minute but UMW handled the pressure to keep the hosts off the board.Â
