ROCKLIN-
Julia Hernandez,
Sydney Boyd and
Tatiana Fernandez all scored in the first half as UC Santa Cruz won 3-1 Tuesday afternoon at William Jessup.
It was the second-straight road win for the Banana Slugs, who improved to 4-1-1. It was the first career goal for both Boyd and Fernandez.
In the 16
th minute, UC Santa Cruz pressured the ball off a Jessup goal kick.
Amanda Scott forced a turnover and fed an open Hernandez, who one-touched a looping shot over the Jessup goalkeeper for the lead. Under ten minutes later, the Banana Slugs struck again when
Payton Cichowski sent a ball over the defense that found Boyd, who calmly chipped the goalkeeper to make the score 2-0.
With 6:46 before halftime, Fernandez got goal number three when she spun and got open at the penalty spot. After missing her first shot, she got to the rebound first to knock in the third goal. Jessup pulled one back less than five minutes before halftime to make it 3-1.
