Box Score EAGLE ROCK (1-15) – Playing their first game in almost a month, UC Santa Cruz took on Occidental College in Eagle Rock. The hosts won in a wire-to-wire victory 67-53.
In the first half, the Tigers would go on a 30-9 half-ending run to gain a 32-11 lead at halftime. In the second half, the Tigers gained their largest lead of the ballgame at twenty-five, at 44-19, on a Kyle Dosa jumper with 14:54 left. From that point on, the Banana Slugs went on a 31-18 run, capped by an
Avri Finch jumper with 1:24 left, to trim the Tigers' lead to 62-50.
Zach Granberry had a season-high 14 points off the bench - all in the second half- to lead the Banana Slugs. Finch had 12 and
Ian McCloskey had 10. The Banana Slugs shot 36.4% (20-55) from the field, 26.9% (7-26) from the three-point line and were 31.6% (6-19) from the free throw line.
Sydney Shipp had a game high twenty-three for the Tigers.Occidental outrebounded UC Santa Cruz 38-37.
The Banana Slugs next take on NCAA Division II member San Francisco State University in San Francisco. Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
