Ryan Silva exploded for a career-high 20 points and
Avri Finch grabbed a double double, but the Chapman Panthers closed the game on a 26-11 run to survive UC Santa Cruz 74-59 Friday afternoon at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
Silva shot 7-15 from the field, including 3-9 from three to lead the Banana Slugs (1-3) in scoring for the second straight game.
Calvin Keyes added 14 points, while Finch scored 11 along with of 12 rebounds and four assists.
Simon Mueller-Landsvik had a season-high six assists.
UC Santa Cruz had a 28-23 halftime lead, but the Panthers came out strong and held off the Banana Slugs late. Chapman went 9-11 from the line overall and 7-9 in the second half.
Anthony Giomi led four Panthers in double figures with 18 off the bench. Chapman shot 61.3% from the field in the second half to spark the turnaround and stay undefeated this season at 6-0.
The Banana Slugs continue the weekend homestand on Saturday with a 2pm matchup against Cal Lutheran.
