Men's soccer breaks winless run with 2-0 road win at Chapman

ORANGE - Two spectacular goals from Lucas Donoso and Will Barba within a 2:30 stretch gave UC Santa Cruz a 2-0 win at Chapman Friday night.
The Banana Slugs (4-9-2) broke a four-game losing streak and won at their old rivals for the first time since 2014.

After being held at bay for over an hour, Donoso opened scoring for UC Santa Cruz in the 65th minute after muscling through two defenders and letting out a spinning left-footer. It was the senior's first goal of the year.
In the 67th minute, Barba who scored for the third time this season. Like his first two, the goal came off a corner kick. The lanky defender used his feet this time to score after he found space in the middle from Itay Rabinovich's corner.
The Banana Slugs almost made it three with under a minute to go, but Luca Bravo's lashed the shot wide.

Overall UC Santa Cruz had an 18-8 shot advantage, including an 11-4 margin in the second half. Wolf Schermerhorn made three saves in goal for the shutout.
The Banana Slugs finish their so Cal roadtrip at Whittier Sunday at noon.
