Box Score SANTA CRUZ- UC Santa Cruz came home to the 831 after an eleven-game , two-state road trip and showed truly there's no place like home.
The Slugs shot over 53% and forced 19 turnovers in the wire-to-wire 94-65 win over Bethesda University to improve to 12-5 on the season.
Senior Andrew Jones tied his career-high with 19 points on 7-12 shooting,including 4-9 from three-point land.
"In first half we were trying to do it all ourselves and I missed a few," said Jones. "But the second half was a different story. We just trusted each other and executed."
Branden Charbonier led Bethesda (4-13) with 16 points.
The Flames stayed close early and were able to tie it at 21 on Gabriel Adersteg's layup. UCSC then finished the first half on a 17-4 run to take a 38-25 lead at the break. UCSC then opened the second half outscoring Bethesda 23-14 in the first seven minutes to take control.
Fellow seniors Tre Weston and Sam Gabbard had 17 and 16 points respectively, with Gabbard collecting team-highs of 11 rebounds and 2 blocks. Adam Marlow had 5 steals and 7 assists to go with 7 points.
With an eye on a landmark season, the Slugs return to the road again for another four games starting next week at Pacific Union.
"We have seven seniors; we just want it more," Jones said. "This year is different. We want to win make the tournament."
