Rochester, NY— UC Santa Cruz Men's Volleyball team defeated SUNY New Paltz on Saturday night for their fourth and final victory of the Nazareth Invitational Tournament. The Slug's won in five games, 22-30, 30-21, 30-22, 26-30 and 15-11. This win takes the Slugs Division III record to 6-1, and overall record to 9-3.
Senior Brad Sullivan led the Slugs with 19 kills. Senior Justin Lam came in second with 18 kills and Junior Austin Einhorn added 12 kills to the victory. Senior Setter Eric Rowell contributed 65 assists.
New Paltz's Jake Moore had an outstanding match with 24 kills. It was all out war for every single point. The Slugs out dug and out blocked New Paltz to gain the upper hand. The Slugs had 47 digs and 11.5 blocks.
The Slugs play their next match in Palo Alto against Stanford on 2/24/2010. The match is set to start at 7:00 pm.
