FRESNO, Ca. – The UC Santa Cruz men's swim and dive team opened the new year with a 193-64 victory over the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds in a Saturday dual meet. The Banana Slugs turned in a strong all-around performance in their first dual of 2026, winning 12 of the 14 events. UC Santa Cruz will be back in action on January 16th when they host CSU Bakersfield.

In The Results:

·       400 Medley Relay: The UCSC A team of Greyson Davies, P.J. Fortune, Jude Robinson, and Kyle Reitan won the event with a time of 3:27.50.

·       1000 Free: Dylan Blietz won the 1000 free with a time of 10:03.35 while Michael Fusinati took second place.

·       200 Free: Massimo Reyna earned the victory in the 200 free with a time of 1:45.69 with Lucas Blietz taking third overall.

·       100 Back: Asher Kates took first place in the 100 back with a time of 53.12s with Greyson Davies taking third place in 55.11s.

·       100 Breast: PJ Fortune won the 100 breast with a time of 58.46s with Sebastian Santiago and Jack West completing the sweep in second and third place, respectively.

·       50 Free: Charlie Hussain earned the victory in the 50 free with a time of 22.09s with Adam Sinclair taking second in 22.33s.

·       200 Fly: Jude Robinson won the 200 fly with a time of 1:57.07 while Kent Nishida and Israel Gonzalez took second and third.

·       200 Back: Asher Kates earned the victory in the 200 back with a time of 1:57.21.

·       100 Free: Kyle Reitan took first place in the 100 free with a time of 46.51s while Bryson Schmid and Lucas Blietz took second and third overall.

·       200 Breast: Sebastian Santiago won the 200 breast with a time of 2:07.47 with the field's only sub 2:10.00 time. PJ Fortune and Jack West took second and third with UCSC taking the top five spots.

·       500 Free: Dylan Blietz completed the distance sweep, winning the 500 free with a time of 4:51.21 with Massimo Reyna taking second in the event.

·       100 Fly: Andrew Koika was the top finisher in the 100 fly with a time of 51.82 with Jude Robinson and Kent Nishida finishing the sweep.

·       400 IM: Asher Kates took second overall with a time of 4:15.88 while Sebastian Santiago took third place.

·       200 Free Relay: UCSC closed out the meet with a second place finish in the 200 free relay as Massimo Reyna, Lucas Blietz, Kent Nishida, and Adam Sinclair combined for a time of 1:31.98.
