SAN FRANCISCO, Ca. – The UC Santa Cruz men's cross country team opened their season with an 12th place finish at the 32nd annual USF Invitational at the Golden Gate Park on Friday afternoon. The Banana Slugs completed the 8k race with 314 points as a team, recording a total team time of 2:11.25 with an average time of 6:17. UCSC had a strong showing overall, putting six runners in the top 100 on the day.
How It Happened
Andrew Mysliwiec led the way for UC Santa Cruz, crossing the line in 25:51.5 to take 57th.
Gilbert Fillat was the next Banana Slug to cross the finish line, finishing his race in 26:07.7. The duo of Brennan Rickey and
Liam Manley finished just seconds away from each other with Rickey finishing the 8k in 26:20.8 while Manley ran 26:26.5, finishing in 76th and 77th, respectively.
James Hayes rounded out the top five in 26:38.0, good for 88th overall with
Caeden Gardner taking 94th with a time of 26:44.4.
Sean Conley rounded out the top seven for UCSC with a time of 26:58.2, putting him in 104th place with
Alex Wille crossing in 118th in 27:31.9 to wrap up the race for UCSC.
