ATHERTON, Ca. - The UC Santa Cruz women's tennis team delivered a strong showing on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Menlo College 5-2 with a dominant performance in singles play.

The Banana Slugs dropped the doubles point despite a promising start on the top court.
Sara Beckman and
Natalie Sprenger were leading 5-3 in their match when it was left unfinished. On court two,
Chloe Wu and
Melody Ghaffari fell 3-6, while Sophia Van Houten and
Meghana Damojipurapu were defeated 2-6 at the No. 3 spot.
UC Santa Cruz turned the tide in singles, winning five of six matches. Beckman led the charge at No. 1 singles, battling back from a set down to earn a gritty 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 win. Damojipurapu followed with a straight-set win on court two, 6-4, 7-5. Ghaffari kept the momentum going with a 6-4, 6-3 victory on court three.
Although Sprenger came up short at the No. 4 position, Wu delivered a commanding 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles.
Daniela Christian closed out the match in dominant fashion, cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 6 spot.
