Slugs Earn Clean Sweep with 7-0 Win Over Foothill

SANTA CRUZ, Ca. - The UC Santa Cruz men's tennis team delivered a commanding performance, shutting out Foothill College 7-0. The Banana Slugs dominated in doubles play before carrying their momentum into singles to complete the sweep.

How It Happened
UC Santa Cruz set the tone early with a strong showing in doubles, winning all three matches convincingly. The No. 1 doubles team of Andrew Tjoa and Benjamin Wang secured a 6-2 victory, while the No. 2 Rocco Melendez and Adam Hidas doubles pair claimed a 6-4 win. At No. 3 doubles, Arjun Tandon and Praneet Varade cruised to a 6-1 win.
The dominance continued in singles action as UC Santa Cruz secured victories across the board. The No. 1 singles match was a hard-fought three-set battle, but Tjoa ultimately fell short 6-4, 1-6, 10-6. At No. 2 singles, Radin Sadeghi won by default after a 6-0 win in set one. The No. 3 singles match ended in a straight-set 6-4, 6-4 victory for Hidas, as did the No. 4 singles match for Mayur Nookala, winning 6-1, 6-3. At No. 5, Tandon delivered a strong performance with a 6-3, 6-1 win, while No. 6 Melendez closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory.
