SAN FRANCISCO, Ca. – The men's and women's track and field teams both earned victories at the 2025 Johnny Mathis Invitational over the weekend with the men scoring 188 points for the win while the women picked up 156 points to earn the victory.
Women's Highlights
100 Meters:
Amaya Cummins placed third with a time of 12.47 seconds, while
Camille Anneet followed closely in fourth at 12.61.
Aditi Kamble (13.30),
Simone Assaf (13.33), and
Alex Kaplan (13.55) also competed strongly in the sprint.
200 Meters:
Camille Anneet earned fifth place in 26.44 seconds.
Sandrine Martinez clocked 28.29 and
Eliza Zheng finished in 29.86.
400 Meters:
Caitlin Donovan took first with a time of 58.64, and
Mae Stafford followed in sixth at 1:01.42.
Esther Kim finished in 1:06.03.
800 Meters:
Rosey Harris ran 2:19.91 to earn seventh place.
Frieda Cedillo (2:22.49) and
Jordan Robinson (2:24.15) finished in the top 15, while
Marianne Chuang (2:26.08),
Madelyn Basinet (2:27.40), and
Hope Martin (2:30.21) rounded out the lineup.
1500 Meters:
Sydney Boyd led the team with a fourth-place finish in 4:40.99.
Jordan Robinson ran 4:48.93 to place eighth.
Faith Dyogi (4:52.42),
Madelyn Basinet (4:58.24), and
Hope Martin (5:13.65) also represented UCSC in the distance event.
5000 Meters:
Jordan Baden won the event with a time of 17:51.69.
Sydney Boyd followed in third (18:00.17), with
Ryanne Reynolds (18:24.23),
Coralie Norenberg (18:36.19), and
Madison Lorenz (18:44.80) all placing in the top 10.
100 Hurdles:
Akira Jones placed eighth with a time of 16.28. Teammates
Isha Kasanagottu (16.45),
Olivia Marino (16.71), and
Eliza Zheng (18.22) also competed in the event.
400 Hurdles:
Alicia Dasalla placed fourth in 1:09.69, while
Aditi Kamble came in seventh at 1:15.32.
3000 Steeplechase:
Cheryl Chuang earned second place in 11:30.51, with
Emma Wirz (11:35.50) and
Sofia Placias (11:41.79) close behind in third and fourth.
4 x 100 Relay: The team of
Camille Anneet,
Amaya Cummins,
Aditi Kamble, and
Caitlin Donovan placed third with a time of 48.97.
High Jump:
Celine Castaneda cleared 1.57m to take second, while
Eliza Zheng earned fourth at 1.52m.
Isha Kasanagottu and
Olivia Marino each cleared 1.37m.
Pole Vault:
Allyson Petersen cleared 2.75m to place sixth and score for UCSC.
Long Jump:
Simone Assaf led the group with an eighth-place mark of 4.89m.
Esther Kim (4.70m),
Akira Jones (4.69m), and
Celine Castaneda (4.55m) rounded out a deep field for UCSC.
Triple Jump:
Celine Castaneda jumped 10.23m for third place, while
Alex Kaplan landed a sixth-place finish with a mark of 9.81m.
Shot Put:
Whitney Porter earned sixth place with a throw of 8.72m.
Discus: Porter returned with a third-place finish in the discus, throwing 34.88m.
Kailey Leba recorded a mark of 20.83m.
Hammer:
Whitney Porter threw 31.18m to place fifth, and
Kailey Leba followed in seventh with 29.84m.
Javelin: Kailey Leba threw 31.59m to secure seventh place, while
Whitney Porter added a ninth-place mark of 24.51m.

100 Meters:
Arthur Gainant sprinted to a second-place finish with a time of 10.86 seconds, earning 8 points.
Jonathan Stenger followed in fifth place, clocking 11.00 seconds and scoring 5 points.
James Contini placed 11th with a time of 11.22 seconds and added 2 points, while
Tyler Vo ran 11.41 seconds for 20th.
200 Meters:
Nathan Bruhn and
Shiven Karnik finished close together in the 200 meters, with Bruhn running 22.96 seconds to place 14th and Karnik clocking in at 23.01 seconds for 16th.
400 Meters:
Levi Laden captured first place in 48.82 seconds, contributing 10 points.
Nathan Bruhn finished fourth in 50.32 seconds, adding 6 points, and
Shiv Mohan placed seventh with a 51.01 performance, earning 4 points.
800 Meters:
Gavin Hahn led the Slugs with a 12th-place finish in 1:58.93, picking up 2 points.
Matthew Riffle followed closely in 1:59.30 for 15th. Other UCSC runners included

5000 Meters:
Viktor Kieturakis took fourth place with a strong time of 14:52.46, earning 10 points.
Benthan Vu followed in 15th at 15:15.63 for 6 points, and
Diego Vizcarra placed 17th in 15:17.49, securing 5 points.
Liam Manley also scored with a 21st-place time of 15:23.47 (2 points).
Ethan Vahle and
Alex Wille finished in 28th and 39th, respectively.
110 Hurdles:
Sotirios Kougiouris ran 15.48 seconds to take second place and score 10 points.
Erik Dodge came in third with 15.86 seconds, earning 8 points.

James Contini won the event with a jump of 6.64 meters, earning 10 points.
Tetsuo Eng followed with a 6.26-meter jump for seventh place and 6 points, while
Jack Richards added 3 points with a 10th-place mark of 5.88 meters.

Jack Richards finished third with a leap of 12.36 meters, collecting 8 points for the Slugs.
Shot Put:
Jeremy Hall placed fifth with a throw of 11.45 meters, adding 6 points to the team's total.
Discus:
Evan Hofstetter recorded a throw of 30.43 meters to place 11th, while
