Slugs Rewrite Record Books at Bryan Clay Invite

AZUSA, Ca. – In a meet with eyes on it from across the country, the UC Santa Cruz men's and women's track and field teams shined on early mornings and late nights as they competed at the 2025 Bryan Clay Invitational. The Banana Slugs saw multiple records fall as Kenzie Seymour, Elena Stanciu, and Luke Holland excelled at APU in the 3k steeplechase, 1500m, and the 5k.

How It Happened
Kenzie Seymour got the action started on Wednesday evening for UCSC, running a 10:43.21 to take 54th overall among a field of NCAA Division I, II, and III student-athletes. Seymour's time also sets a new program record by nearly 10 seconds. In addition to the program record, Seymour's time ranks her sixth so far this season.

The Banana Slugs saw another record drop on Thursday morning with Luke Holland storming through 5,000 meters in 14:15.04, improving upon his previous record of 14:18.09 from earlier this season. Holland's time is the 17th fastest time so far this season.

Elena Stanciu continued to light up the track, turning in the second fastest 800m in program history after running the two lap race in 2:15.85. Sara Teitelbaum and Lucia Muthu also competed in the 800m at APU, running 2:19.15 and 2:20.72.

On the men's side, Eric Anderson led the way with another great performance, running a 1:50.98 to take 73rd in the Invite section of the 800m. Aaron Hillberg and Graeme Maclean performed well in the Open 800m section with Hillberg leading the charge by the tune of a 1:51.86 to take 15th. Maclean turned in a 1:54.01 to take 77th overall.

In the 1500m, Anderson ran in the Invite section, crossing the line in 3:50.83 while Maclean ran a 3:50.65. Camden Jaureguy completed the three and three quarter laps in 3:57.68. On the women's side, Sara Teitelbaum and Lucia Muthu ran 4:43.32 and 4:47.58 while Elena Stanciu stormed through the track in a program record time of 4:33.28 which stands as the 21st fastest time in the NCAA so far this year.
