HAYWARD, Ca. - The UC Santa Cruz men's and women's track and field team wrapped up a strong showing at the Chabot Finale in Hayward, California, with standout performances on both sides leading to a meet win for both programs. The women scored 145.5 points while the men recorded 115.66 points.

Women's Highlights
100m: Alicia Dasalla led the Banana Slugs in the 100 meters with a time of 13.31, placing 15th.
Olivia Marino followed with a 21st-place finish, clocking in at 13.94.
200m: UC Santa Cruz had an impressive showing in the 200 meters.
Amaya Cummins placed fifth with a time of 25.84, earning five points. Just behind her,
Camille Anneet finished sixth in 25.86, contributing four points.
Caitlin Donovan secured one point with a ninth-place finish in 26.01.
Alicia Dasalla (27.70),
Sandrine Martinez (28.13), and
Esther Kim (28.52) also competed.
400m: Sandrine Martinez competed in the 400 meters, finishing with a time of 1:04.10 and placing ninth.
800m: The Banana Slugs dominated the 800 meters.
Rosey Harris led the charge, finishing third in 2:21.35 and earning six points.
Madelyn Basinet followed closely in fourth at 2:24.70 (five points), with
Marianne Chuang (2:25.73) in seventh and
Hope Martin (2:26.12) in eighth, adding two and one points respectively.
1500m: Jordan Baden had a strong race in the 1500 meters, placing second in 4:53.03 and securing eight points.
Coralie Norenberg followed in third with a time of 4:57.52, adding six points to the team's total in her collegiate debut for UC Santa Cruz.
100m Hurdles: Isha Kasanagottu won the 100m hurdles in 16.25 seconds, scoring 10 points.
Akira Jones took third (16.61) for six points, while
Olivia Marino added five points with a fourth-place finish in 17.27.
400m Hurdles: Aditi Kamble placed second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:12.21, earning eight points.
Isha Kasanagottu contributed three more points with a sixth-place finish in 1:14.98.
High Jump: Celine Castaneda claimed first place in the high jump with a clearance of 1.50m, scoring 10 points.
Eliza Zheng followed in second at 1.45m (eight points), and
Olivia Marino tied for fourth, clearing 1.35m for 4.5 points.
Long Jump: In long jump field,
Esther Kim led UCSC with a third-place mark of 4.97m, good for six points.
Simone Assaf followed in fourth (4.94m, five points), with
Celine Castaneda in sixth (4.89m, four points).
Olivia Marino added two points with her 4.87m jump for eighth, and
Akira Jones scored one point with a 4.82m effort for ninth. Also competing were
Sandrine Martinez (4.64m),
Eliza Zheng (4.52m), and
Alex Kaplan (4.36m).
Triple Jump: UC Santa Cruz swept the top three spots in the triple jump.
Celine Castaneda won the event with a leap of 10.19m, earning 10 points.
Alex Kaplan was second (9.97m, eight points), and
Simone Assaf finished third (9.44m, six points).
Shot Put: Whitney Porter led the throwers in shot put, placing 11th with a best mark of 9.80m.
Kailey Leba threw 7.58m to finish 18th.
Discus: Whitney Porter placed eighth in the discus with a 32.09m throw, earning two points.
Kailey Leba had a best mark of 22.40m, placing 18th.
Hammer: Porter also competed in the hammer throw, finishing eighth with a distance of 29.90m, scoring one point. Leba threw 27.90m to take 11th.
Javelin: Kailey Leba delivered a standout performance in the javelin, throwing 30.92m to place third and earn six points.
Whitney Porter finished seventh with a throw of 24.00m, adding two points.
Men's Highlights
100m: Jonathan Stenger led the way for the Banana Slugs, clocking in at 11.22 seconds for 11th place overall. He was followed by
Tyler Vo, who ran 11.43, and
Tetsuo Eng, who finished in 11.68.
200m: Levi Laden stole the show in the 200 meters, taking first place with an impressive time of 21.83 seconds.
James Contini placed 12th in 22.66, while
Shiven Karnik finished 28th with a time of 23.35.
400m: Leland Nguyen represented the Slugs in the 400m, finishing in 23rd place with a time of 54.32 seconds.
800m: Matthew Riffle earned 4th place with a time of 1:59.17, followed closely by
Michael Masotti in 6th at 1:59.83.
Eduardo Palma placed 7th in 2:00.04,
Brennen Rickey was 9th in 2:00.77, and
Sasha Tanasychuk rounded out the top 10 with a 2:00.89. Additional finishers included Joey Montag (2:08.77),
Desi Herrerias (2:10.58), and
Max Kirkhope (2:14.33).
1500m: Sasha Tanasychuk took silver in the 1500m, running 3:59.53.
Michael Masotti was 3rd in 4:03.06, while
Nathan Leroy and
Desi Herrerias finished 6th and 7th in 4:07.05 and 4:07.10, respectively.
Kelvin Chan placed 12th in 4:12.83, and
Will Langton was 16th in 4:15.08.
110m Hurdles: Sotirios Kougiouris claimed 2nd place with a time of 15.82, and
Maxwell Holbrook secured 3rd in 16.64.
400m Hurdles: Maxwell Holbrook returned to finish 4th in the 400m hurdles at 58.93, and
Erik Dodge took 7th in 1:01.02.
4x100m Relay: The relay team of
Erik Dodge,
Arthur Gainant,
Evan Hofstetter, and
Sotirios Kougiouris combined for a time of 42.28, earning 3rd place and 6 team points.
High Jump: Jack Richards and
Tetsuo Eng both cleared 1.75m (5' 8.75") to tie for 4th place in the high jump.
Pole Vault: Erik Dodge vaulted his way to a 2nd-place finish with a height of 4.40m (14' 5.25").
Evan Hofstetter followed in 5th, clearing 3.65m (11' 11.75").
Long Jump: In the long jump,
Tetsuo Eng placed 6th with a mark of 6.35m (20' 10"), just ahead of
James Contini, who landed at 6.33m (20' 9.25") for 7th place.
Jack Richards rounded out the group in 8th with a leap of 6.03m (19' 9.5").
Shot Put: Jeremy Hall threw 11.10m (36' 5") to place 11th in the shot put, and
Evan Hofstetter recorded a 9.69m (31' 9.5") for 16th.
Discus: In the discus,
Jeremy Hall placed 17th with a top throw of 32.17m (105' 6"), while
Evan Hofstetter finished 20th with 30.37m (99' 8").
