PEORIA, Az. - The UC Santa Cruz women's golf team placed 10th at the Westbrook Village Invitational.

The No. 41 Banana Slugs ran into tough competition this weekend at the Westbrook Village Invitational including the No. 1 Emory Eagles. The Slugs were far and away the youngest squad at the event, with 4 first years and a lone second year in
Elana McGrew.

Olivia Lew led the group shooting 74s in each round which was enough to tie her for 19th place on the leaderboard.

Among the other Slugs,
Samantha Shaw shot a 76 and a 77 which landed her tied for 31st. After shooting 82 in the first round, Adeline Troung had the best round of any Slug in the second round with 73. This bumped her up to 34th on the player leaderboard. Elena McGrew shot 15 over 86 and 13 over 84 to land in 65th.
Alyssa Castellanos shot 23 over 94 and 14 over 85 to end in 67th.

The Slugs will be back home later this month for the UC Santa Cruz Invitational Tournament taking place from March 29th to the 30th. Â
