REDLANDS, Ca. - The UC Santa Cruz women's tennis team earned a thrilling 4-2 victory this Friday over their conference rivals, the No. 30 University of Mary Washington Eagles. The victory marks the team's first win against C2C competition. This will place the Slugs 2nd in the conference underneath the undefeated Salisbury. A win in No. 2 and No. 3 Doubles started things off strong for the Slugs who then went on to win No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 Singles convincingly. The Banana Slugs later suffered a tough 6-1 to the University of Redlands Bulldogs. The Slugs now fall to 4-3 on the season, going 1-1 on the day. The Slugs will wrap up their SoCal roadtrip on against the Sewanee Tigers.

Chloe Wu and
Meghana Damojipurapu defeated their competition 6-3. No.3
Sweden Van Houten and
Melody Ghaffari continued with a similar success also winning their set 6-3. Later, the Slugs continued to pick up wins in the singles courts. No. 3
Meghana Damojipurapu won her match in two sets 6-3, 6-4 while No. 4
Chloe Wu dominated her competition in two sets that went to 6-0 and 6-2. To finish things off and seal the win for the Slugs, No. 5
Melody Ghaffari maintained momentum winning her sets 6-2 and 7-5. Notably No. 1
Sara Beckman was unable to complete her match after the Slugs made quick work of their other competition.

Melody Ghaffari continued her success from earlier with a hard-fought three-set win that went to 7-6, 5-7, and 10-7.
