Banana Slugs Perform Well at UC Davis

DAVIS, Ca. – The UC Santa Cruz track and field performed well at the Aggie Open on Saturday afternoon. The team will now turn their attention to the Hornet Invitational on March 21-22 in Sacramento, CA.
 
Women's Meet Highlights
  • Women's Triple Jump: Alex Kaplan recorded a strong jump of 10.19m (33' 5.25"), securing a third-place finish for the Slugs.
  • Women's Discus: Whitney Porter led the Slugs with a throw of 34.48m (113' 1"), finishing fifth overall. Kailey Leba also recorded a mark of 25.22m (82'9") to place 12th for UC Santa Cruz.
  • Women's High Jump: Celine Castaneda cleared 1.57m (5'1.75") to secure a third-place finish for the Slugs. Eliza Zheng also had a strong showing, clearing 1.52m (4'11.75") to place sixth overall.
  • Women's 100m Hurdles: Isha Kasanagottu led the Slugs with a time of 16.24 seconds, finishing fifth overall. Akira Jones followed with a time of 17.05 seconds to place seventh. Olivia Marino did not finish the race.
  • Women's 200m Dash: Amaya Cummins led the Slugs with a time of 26.60 seconds, finishing 10th overall. Camille Anneet followed with a time of 26.78 seconds to place 11th.
  • Women's 4x400m Relay: The UCSC 'A' relay team of Camille Anneet, Amaya Cummins, Caitlin Donovan, and Mae Stafford finished in 4:11.57, placing fourth overall.
 
Men's Meet Highlights
  • Men's Long Jump: Tetsuo Eng led the Slugs with a jump of 6.03m (19'9.5"), securing a fifth-place finish. Jack Richards followed with a mark of 5.88m (19'3.5"), placing eighth overall for UCSC.
  • Men's Pole Vault: Erik Dodge cleared 4.43m (14' 6.25") to secure a fifth-place finish for the Slugs.
  • Men's High Jump: Tetsuo Eng cleared 1.76m (5 9.25"), securing a third-place finish for the Slugs.
  • Men's 110m Hurdles: Sotirios Kougiouris led the Slugs with a time of 15.79 seconds, finishing fourth overall. Erik Dodge followed with 16.47 seconds to place sixth, while Maxwell Holbrook clocked 16.55 seconds to finish seventh.
  • Men's 200m Dash: Levi Laden led the Slugs with a time of 22.51 seconds, finishing seventh overall. Arthur Gainant followed closely in 22.55 seconds, placing eighth.
  • Men's 1500m: Benthan Vu led the Slugs with a time of 4:08.56, securing a sixth-place finish. He was followed closely by Gavin Hahn (4:09.08) in ninth, Eduardo Palma (4:09.12) in tenth, Nathan Leroy (4:09.95) in eleventh, and Michael Masotti (4:10.15) in twelfth.
