SANTA CRUZ, Ca. – The UC Santa Cruz women's team earned a 4-0 victory over the Cal Lutheran Regals in their 2025 home opener on Saturday afternoon. The Slugs picked up two wins in doubles and won matches at No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6 singles to seal the victory. UC Santa Cruz will be back in action on Feb. 21 when they travel to Whittier to kick off a Southern California weekend as they take on Whittier, Caltech, and Occidental.
How It Happened
The Banana Slugs nearly swept the doubles matches to start the day but fell 7-6 in No. 1 doubles, but
Chloe Wu and
Meghana Damojipurapu earned a 6-4 victory at No. 2 with
Sweden Van Houten and
Melody Ghaffari taking a 6-3 win at No. 3.
In singles, the Slugs saw
Natalie Sprenger win No. 2 6-4, 6-2 with
Melody Ghaffari winning at No. 5 6-3, 6-1.
Brooklyn Walker won the No. 6 singles match 6-1, 6-3 as UCSC defeated the Regals 4-0.
