Slugs Tame Tigers with 4-3 Victory to End SoCal Roadtrip

Box Score LOS ANGELES, Ca. - The UC Santa Cruz Women's team won a hard-fought 4-3 contest against the Occidental Tigers on Sunday. The Slugs started strong by winning two out of the three doubles matches before they went on to split the singles matches winning No. 1, No. 5, and No. 6.
 
How It Happened
The Slugs continued their doubles success from Saturday's contest by winning No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. No. 2 Chloe Wu and Meghana Damojipurapu won a tough set 7-5 while No. 3 Sweden Van Houten and Melody Ghaffari strolled to a 6-0 win. The singles were a bit more even, but the Slugs were able to win just enough to secure the victory. No. 1 Sara Beckman had a dominant win in two sets against her competition, going 6-1, 6-2. No. 5 Melody Ghaffari followed suit winning in two sets that ended at 6-4 and 6-2. The last singles victory for the Slugs came from Brooklyn Walker who took her decisive match in three sets which were 6-3, 1-6, and lastly 6-4.
