SEATTLE, WA. – The UC Santa Cruz men's and women's track and field teams sent a trio of Banana Slugs to compete in the Husky Classic at the University of Washington on Friday and Saturday in Seattle. UC Santa Cruz will be back in action on Feb. 22 and Feb. 23 for the Coast-2-Coast Indoor Track and Field Conference Championships in Newport News, Virginia.
 
Kenzie Seymour kicked off the weekend with a program record performance in the 3,000m, running a 10:07.36 to place her name at the top of the program's record board. Helena Janku smashed her own program record in the 5,000m, dropping a 17:19.24, breaking the previous record (17:52.12) by over 30 seconds. Janku's time converted to a 17:27.25 which currently stands as the 36th best time in the country.
 
Eric Anderson rounded out the weekend performances with a strong showing in the mile, running a 4:05.98 (4:09.13 converted), which stands as the 10th best time in the country so far this season.
