Slugs Perform Well at Bronco Invite and Augustana Interregional Invitational

SUNNYVALE, Ca. – The UC Santa Cruz men's cross country team had a busy Saturday as two squads toed the line today with one squad finishing second overall at the Bronco Invite while the other team took 13th at the Augustana Interregional Invitational at the Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois. At the Bronco Invite, UCSC finished second in the Open 8k with 60 points and an average time of 25:57 while the Banana Slugs racing at the Augustana Interregional Invitational averaged a 25:38 on the 8k course, finishing with a total time of 2:08.14 and 390 team points in a field of some of the nation's best teams.

Liam Manley was the top finisher for UCSC, crossing the line in 25:39.2 to take 19th place while Sean Conley and Gavin Hahn both turned in sub 26 minute races as well, taking 26th and 27th after crossing the line in 25:54.0 and 25:55.3. Eduardo Palma and Alex Wille were the next two Banana Slugs to cross the line, with the duo running 26:07.1 and 26:11.5 to take 35th and 40th. Kelvin Chan and Brennen Rickey rounded out the top seven with Chan finishing in 26:35.0 while Rickey finished the 8k in 26:57.1, earning the duo 54th and 79th place finishes, respectively.
 
Augustana Interregional Invitational
Luke Holland turned in the fastest time for UC Santa Cruz in Rock Island, Illinois, averaging just under a five minute mile to complete the 8k in 24:50.4, earning him a 20th place finish. Camden Jaureguy was the next Banana Slug across the finish line, finishing in 25:11.0 to take 38th. UC Santa Cruz next saw Graeme Maclean and Diego Vizcarra finish with the duo running 25:50.4 and 26:04.7 to take 92nd and 120th, respectively. Drew Mysliwiec rounded out the top five finishers for UCSC with a 149th place finish after completing his race in 26:18.4. The trio of Ethan Vahle, Michael Lennox, and Sasha Tanasychuk took 219th, 225th, and 228th as they ran 26:54.9, 27:00.3, and 27:02.0. Desi Herrerias and Gilbert Fillat also had solid showings for UCSC in the Midwest competition, running 27:07.0 and 27:13.1 to take 242nd and 254th overall.
