Women's tennis falls in C2C Semifinals

NEWPORT NEWS, VA (4/29)-- This Saturday morning, the UC Santa Cruz Women's Tennis squad woke up bright and early for today's Conference Semifinal Match in Newport News, Virginia. The two-seed Christopher Newport Captains beat the Banana Slugs 5-2 to advance to Sunday's final.

Sara Beckman and Natalie Sprenger took the first doubles for the Slugs 8-5. However the Captains won the other two doubles 8-5 and 8-1 for a 2-1 lead.
At #4 singles, Tanner Rowland won both of her sets 6-1 and 6-4. That brought the Banana Slugs to within 3-2 for the match. Meghana Damojipurapu and Jolie Seemayer took their matches to the third set.  However,  the Captains won the other two singles by winning second set tiebreakers and took the match.

UC Santa Cruz went to 6-9 on the season, their best record in almost a decade. They find out about the NCAA Tournament on Monday May 1st.
