TACOMA, Wa. – The UC Santa Cruz women's tennis team opened their season with a strong 7-0 victory over the Puget Sound Loggers on Saturday afternoon. The No. 37 Banana Slugs will be back in action tomorrow in Tacoma, Washington when they take on the No. 40 Whitman Blues at 9:00 a.m.

The Banana Slugs earned the clean sweep in doubles to start the day with
Sara Beckman and
Natalie Sprenger earning a 6-3 victory in No. 1 doubles with
Chloe Wu and
Meghana Damojipurapu winning 6-4 in No. 2 doubles.
Sweden Van Houten &
Brooklyn Walker picked up the 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles to put UCSC up 3-0 heading into the singles matches.
Sara Beckman led the way, earning a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles while
Natalie Sprenger held of some pressure in the No. 2 match, earning a 7-5, 6-3 victory. The Banana Slugs cruised to the finish line from there with
Meghana Damojipurapu winning 6-1, 6-1, Chleo Wu winning 6-3, 6-0,
Brooklyn Walker winning 6-3, 6-2, and
Julia Chiaradia Azzi wrapping things up with a 6-0, 6-0 win.
