UCSC Sweeps NDNU on Senior Day

In the last match of the season, UC Santa Cruz swept the visiting Notre Dame de Namur Argonauts 9-0. The match was especially important for the slugs because they said goodbye to their two seniors, Sarah Malone (Traverse City, MI) and Rebecca Parker (Boulder, CO). Suzanne Lipscomb and Sophie Lundeberg were off the court first at three doubles with an 8-0 victory over Maria Galindo and Katie Rosas. Next off were Malone and Courtney Lymburner with an 8-1 victory over Rebecca Corteza and Morganna Thomsen-Hayes. Parker and Quyen Truong jumped out to a 7-0 lead at two doubles, but Kala Fisher and Emily Castro fought back to make it 7-3 before the slugs closed it out 8-3. In singles, UC Santa Cruz dropped just six total games in all six singles matches. Malone closed out her career as a slug with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Fisher at four singles. Parker ended her career with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Rosas at the six spot. A special thank you to our seniors for an incredible four years. Good luck with your futures and the slugs will miss you.
