Four Slug Water Polo Playes named to the "Superior" Academic All-American Team

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- Four Slug Men's water polo players, plus the UC Santa Cruz team at large, were bestowed with 2007 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-Academic Awards, which was announced by Executive Director Bryan Kimbell on Monday, April 7th.

Three Men's Volleyball Players receive All-American Honors

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- The AVCA has announced the 2008 Division III list of All-American honorees. This year the Slugs have 3 athletes recognized including Senior Bryan Shires, Sophomore Austin Einhorn, and Sophomore Brad Sullivan. (more)

Slugs Take Down Pioneers in Overtime

In the rubber match between the only two Division III programs in Northern California the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs came out ahead of the CSU East Bay Pioneers 10 to 9 in overtime. In an exciting game in which neither team ever led by more than two goals CSU East Bay game back with two goals in the final two minutes of regulation to push the game into overtime. With about thirty seconds left in the second overtime period Senior Chelsea Meyers stole the ball and started the UCSC counterattack. (more)

Slug Swimmers Finish Off Season in Ohio

WOOSTER, OH -- After a strong performance at their conference meet in February, seven slugs qualified for the National Championships.  The female qualifiers were Seniors Erin Hunter and Mariko Ikehata, and Junior Meg Crowley.  The men qualified Seniors Troy Marcikic and Kenton Drake, and Sophomores Ben Ferguson and Jamie Johnson. The NCAA qualifiers took part in the Division 3 National Championships at Miami University in Ohio.  The women’s meet took place March 13-15 and the men’s meet took place March 20-22.  The women finished with 5 All-Americans and the men finished with 4.
