UCSC vs. Hardin Simmons

GEORGETOWN, TX.--The end of the Texas road trip saw UCSC facing potentially its toughest competition yet. After a rowdy match versus Trinity and a double overtime match versus Southwestern, UCSC gathered their legs and strength together to face Hardin Simmons, polled by the NSCAA as 3rd in the DIII women's soccer national rankings.  Despite 110 minutes of play two days prior, the Banana Slugs were able to keep this top-ranked team to just one goal in the first half that came off a rebound of the far post that Amy Kuykendall tucked away. Kuykendall struck again in the second half to make the final score Hardin Simmons 2, UCSC, 0. The Cowgirls outshot UCSC 20-3, proving that while UCSC struggles to get on the board, the defense has been holding their own against very tough opponents.

Coach Schelhorse had this to say about the young season, "Although we are facing a lot of adversity right now, injuries and tough opponents, the girls are battling every day, improving and obtaining the experience they will need to succeed in the future of this program.  To turn the corner we will need to keep our competitive edge and not be satisfied with just playing well, but find that extra little bit of effort to overcome."
