UCSC vs. Chapman

SANTA CRUZ, CA.---The UCSC Women's Soccer Team returned finally to their home turf to take on fellow independent Division III southern California rival Chapman University on Saturday October 2, 2010, visiting from Orange County. In what was a heated battle for the course of the whole contest that led the two squads into double overtime, sadly for the Slugs, Chapman emerged victorious with a sudden death golden goal which #24 Aimee Evans slotted away about five minutes into the second OT period. The Banana Slugs had weathered a rough season so far and had looked to turn around their playoff potential with a win against Chapman, but the lone goal thwarted that plan for the Slugs.  Chapman's squad poised to go ahead on seven corner kicks that were well defended against by the Santa Cruz defense.  The game-winning Chapman goal came on a counter-attack just after a chance on goal from a Banana Slug corner kick which looked like it would help UCSC go ahead but to no avail. The Slugs will face Chapman again on the road in their last of two games for the season on October 31, 2010, looking to improve this tough result.
