Men's Soccer 2012 Season Preview

Entering his fourth season as head coach for the Men's Soccer Team, Mike Runeare is excited for the potential and experience his team brings to the pitch. His stylish, attacking-minded play paired with the desire to sacrifice individualism for the team is at the foreground more so than ever as 24 student-athletes return and he welcomes six newcomers.

The Slugs are coming off a 9-9 season and hope to build upon last year through seniors (and captains) Cody Pillon (midfield) and Reed Adler (defense) as well as seniors Aaron Surrey (midfield/forward), Michael Hanabusa (midfield) and Alika Okamitsu (defense). The seniors bring experience and drive with a depth of leadership and could very well be the catalyst for the success of the program in 2012. The slugs also welcome back a solid junior and a driven sophomore class both looking to prove themselves and bring the slugs back to the NCAA tournament after a two year drought. Rounding out the roster includes a talented freshman class looking to add their signature to a dynamic and disciplined squad.

Assisting Runeare this year includes David Frank (5th season) and Aaron Mamula (5th season) as well as newcomer Clayton Sorensen (1st Season).
