UC Santa Cruz has started a trajectory to becoming a premier Cross Country and Track & Field program on the West Coast.  UC Santa Cruz’s Cross Country and Track & Field programs have expanded rapidly with the 2017 Track & Field season marking the first year sponsoring a complete Men’s and Women’s program.

UC Santa Cruz has established itself as a world-class academic University, and prides it self on this fact.  We are in a incredible location for training that allows us to train year round in an ideal climate to set us up for success.

We are in a unique position in that we do not limit ourselves to being just a Division III program.  We compete against a number of Division 1 and Division 2 programs searching for high levels of competition for our student-athletes.

The Recruiting Process

Our team is developed through the recruiting process with having try-outs to become a member of the program.  We spend the Spring and Summer of a prospective student-athlete’s Junior year, and their Senior year identifying talent and looking to expand the program.  During the winter and spring of a players Senior year we will spend as much time as possible getting to know our top student-athletes and finding good matches between student-athletes and coach, student-athletes and school, and student-athletes and community.  For prospective Slugs we suggest the following:

  1. Contact us: Contact Head Coach David Klech via email dklech@ucsc.edu.
  2. Fill out recuit form: UCSC Cross Country/Track & Field Recruit Form
  3. Make a visit to our campus: Come and visit one of the most beautiful college campuses in the world.  To reserve a spot on our campus tour contact Head Coach David Klech via email (dklech@ucsc.edu) to schedule time to meet while you are here.
