After two consecutive years appearing in the National Rankings, the UC Santa Cruz Men will look to remain in the National Spotlight during the 2019 season.
Colosi is the first three-time NCAA Qualifier in program history and will look to add to his list of impressive accolades in his senior season. Kleiber and O'Neill are both two-time All West Region honorees and will look to continue to help lead the team this Fall.
Returners Perry Winsor, Luke Trafecanty, and Will Daschbach will provide crucial depth after great track seasons last spring. Winsor competed at the USATF Junior National Championships in the 3000m Steeple this past summer. Trafecanty and Daschbach both had breakout Track seasons in the spring having significant drops in the 5,000m.
"The men left last Cross Country season with some disappointment in not making a return trip to Nationals. Using that energy, they really bounced back and had a phenomenal Track and Field season," head coach David Klech said. "Paul, Nick, and Kellen are going to be one of the top front 3 of any team in the country. With our returners and freshman, we have built a great program culture where I believe we will have a lot of success this fall."
The men could see key contributions from an impressive freshman class:
Pablo Cortes joins us from Paso Robles where he was a 4x CIF State Cross Country Meet competitor as well as a 2x Central Section Finalist in Track & Field.
Adam Elaidy comes from Alameda High School where he was a top 10 finisher at the North Coast Section Cross Country Championships as well as NCS Meet of Champions finalist in the 3200m as a Senior.
Emerson Hemley, from Bethesda, Maryland, joins the squad as a 2x Nike Cross Southeast Regional Competitor as well as a 2x Maryland State Track & Field Qualifier.
Kyle Henricson joins former Davis Senior HS teammate Winsor on the Slug Squad as a CIF State Cross Country Championships competitor as a Senior.
Hayden Johnson comes from Torrance, CA where he was top 35 in Southern Section Division Finals in Cross Country as well as a 3x Pioneer League Runner-Up in Track & Field.
