Balanced team attack leads women's volleyball to sweep over Mills

UC Santa Cruz started off October on a high note, with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-7, 25-8) victory over Mills College at Kaiser Permanente Arena, continuing a now 4-game win streak to go to 9-9.

The Slugs dominated every aspect of the game and the stat sheet, with each individual team member contributing in one way or another. UC Santa Cruz on the night had 43 kills, 37 assists, 8 total blocks, and a team hitting percentage of .356.

Santa Cruz took the first set almost immediately, aside from a well-played rally by Mills that was ended by a sharp kill from Jordan Kirchner to make it 18-6. The Slugs finished the set winning 25-11, the most points they would allow the Cyclones all night.

UC Santa Cruz fought to keep Mills in single-digits for the 2nd and 3rd sets (25-7, 25-8).

Sinead Beaupain and Alana Susbilla were key for the Slugs, adding 15 and 14 assists respectively, combining for 29 out of the team's 37.  Junior Claire Okerlund had 12 kills, with Maiya Sears close behind with 7 kills. Alexandria Everett, Isabella Hoglund, and Maddie Fowler each had 5 kills of their own.

Shania Andrews had team-highs of 15 digs and 3 aces.

UC Santa Cruz will host Feather River College this Friday at 7p.m. at KP Arena.
