After on-again off-again stoppages for rains, and then lots of mopping up, UC Santa Cruz finally finished its dual against No. 21 Trinity University Sunday, falling 9-0 to the Tigers.
The doubles got underway Saturday afternoon, but was stopped after five minutes after rain clouds again moved in on campus. They were eventually finished with the visitors from Texas taking a 3-0 lead.
The singles began Sunday morning, with the Banana Slugs falling in straight sets in all six contests.
"So great for us to play a ranked team at home & the multiple rain delays were a good mental challenge for us," head coach Amy Jensen said. "I can see how much our team enjoys competing & embraces the challenges of our sport."
"Today was a great sign of things to come. We learned some great stuff today & are excited to continue the climb."
UCSC takes on 27th-ranked Whitman College on Monday morning.
