ARCADIA- For the second-straight game, UC Santa Cruz did all their scoring in the second half, but kept the scoring going once they did.

Karina Bulli had two goals, while Samantha Scarlett and Tomiko Hoshijima each added one in the Banana Slugs 4-0 win over Providence Christian.

UC Santa Cruz (9-2-2) won their second-straight game and shut out an opponent for the ninth time this season.

UCSC had an 11-2 shot advantage in the first half, but the Sea Beggars (3-10) held off the attacks, with goalkeeper Lindsey Clayton coming up with three saves.

UCSC didn't let up in the second half, and broke the deadlock 3:14 in when Bulli got on the end of Julia Hernandez's pass.

Scarlett added the second one with 17:10 left and Bulli finished her brace 3:03 later, finishing a pass from fellow freshman Chella Grattet to make it 3-0.

Hoshijima finished the scoring with 2:18 left after coming on for Bulli.

UCSC had a 34-6 shot advantage in the game, with 23 coming in the second half. Alyssa Diaz-Tucker had two saves in the match, coming up with a big one with 22:43 remaining to keep UCSC in the lead.

UC Santa Cruz finishes their road-trip next Thursday when they face Division II rivals Stanislaus State in Turlock.


Bulli scored her 7th and 8th goals of the season. It's the most goals by a UCSC freshman since Sara Sadler scored 7 in 2011.

Diaz Tucker lowered her GAA to 0.43 with the shutout, good for 15th in the nation.
