UC Santa Cruz is pleased to welcome in our two new freshmen on to the women's Golf team!
First up will be committed freshman Riley Birch from Vacaville High School. Riley has the enthusiasm and good spirit to bring to her team and will be stepping into the next level of her golf career. Her average 18-hole score is at 78. She also had a great run as her high school was four-time Monticello Empire League champion.
She was 1st chair violin, earned a 4.1 GPA, 4H leader, and a former Girl Scout. Birch would like to pursue a major in Biological technology with a minor in spanish and we can't wait to welcome her to the team.
Gillian Mendoza is will also be joining our team. "G" , as she is known, represented southern California's Rowland High in the CIF tournament and made their first team for 3 years. She had a 9-hole average score of 37.1 throughout her senior season and holds the school record for the lowest 9-hole round of 33 at Royal Vista Golf Club.
G is also the first golfer at Rowland High to be named to their athletic Hall of Fame. As Gillian prepares to set foot on the UCSC campus, she plans on pursuing a major in Biology and we just can't wait for her arrival.
Our Golf team will be accepting these two new athletes with open arms this fall and can't be wait for the season ahead.
