    The Slugs traveled to Dallas, TX this past weekend to face two rival Independent Division III Oppoents. The first night, they faced Chapman University for the third time this season.   • Two More Close Games for Women's Basketball Along with a Record Breaking Performance

    The UCSC Women's Basketball team dropped two more close game this weekend. The Slugs traveled down to Chapman University for an Independent Tournament where they first faced La Sierra University. They found themselves in a tough battle that went into overtime where they eventually fell 54-60.   • SAAC teams up with SPIN for a sports day on UCSC campus

    SANTA CRUZ, CA - - The Student Athlete Advisory Committee teamed up with SPIN to put on the 1st annual sports day on the campus of UC Santa Cruz from 10:30am – 1:30pm this past Saturday. SPIN (Special Parents Information Network) is a non-profit parent-to-parent support and information network serving parents, guardians and families in Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties who have children with special needs.
  • Andrusaitis Leads the Ways for the Slugs Second Win in a Row

    The Women's Basketball team is 2-0 to start off the New Year as they defeated Cal State Maritime 59-40. Sophomore forward Jessica Andrusaitis lead the way recording her first double-double of the season finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds, shooting 40% from the field. Junior guard Kayleigh Calandri also scored in double figures finishing with 14 points. This brings Calandri's career total points to 918, making her second on the All-Time scoring list.

  • UCSC Women's Basketball Still Rollin' Strong

    With no homes games, and two LA trips in two weeks, the UCSC Women's Basketball team has managed to not be affected. The Slugs are off to their best start since head coach Nikki Turner took over the program four years ago. For their third straight victory, they defeated Claremont Mudd Scripps 67-55, the first time in Turner's four years.
  • Sarah Adamson's Career High Helps Bring The Slugs to 3-1 on the Season

    Solid shooting helps bring the UCSC Women's Basketball team to 3-1 as they defeated Pomona-Pitzer for the second time this season. The Slugs were lead by senior center Sarah Adamson who finished the night with 19 points and 9 rebounds, setting an individual game high record. Adamson shot 64% from the field, finishing the night 9-14.
  • Slugs Women's Basketball Comes Away With A Close Victory At Dominican

    UCSC Women's Basketball walks away with a close win versus Dominican, 74-69. Size is what lead the way for the Slugs once again, having four post players score in double digits. Sophomore forward Molly Davisson lead the way with 14 points and 7 rebounds, while Junior forward Melissa Junge and sophomore forward Jessica Andrusaitis finished with 12 points each and 11 rebounds collectively.
  • Women's Basketball Falls To La Verne 70-64

    In the second day of the So Cal Tip-Off Tournament, the UCSC Women's Basketball team falls to the University of La Verne in a close battle, 70-64. After defeating Pomona-Pitzer the previous night, the Slugs faced 2007-08 SCIAC Champions La Verne. SCIAC Player of the Year and Pre-Season nominated All-American Trenecca Jones was too much for the Slugs to handle.
  • Women's Basketball Opens Their Season with a 68-50 Victory Over Pomona-Pitzer

    The Slugs came out strong in their season opener against Division III opponent Pomona-Pitzer with a 68-50 victory. They are opening their season in the So Cal Tip-Off Tournament that is hosted by both Pomona-Pitzer and University of La Verne.

    The Slugs finished the 2006-07 season with one of the strongest finishes in school history. They ended the season with a 10-15 regular season record (10-17 overall), reaching the double digit mark for the first time in four seasons. Finishing the second half of season with a 7-4 mark, the Slugs hope to continue with this momentum leading into the 2007-08 season.
  • UCSC Women's Basketball Spend Their Team Retreat Volunteering

    Every season the Women's Basketball Team spends a weekend out of Santa Cruz for their team retreat. This year the team decided to add a little twist to their team building weekend as they headed to Reedley, CA to volunteer at The Academy of the Sierras. AOS is a residential treatment school for overweight teens and young adults.
