FRESNO (1-12) – The Banana Slugs participated in their first dual match of the season as they took on NCAA Division II member Fresno Pacific University in Fresno. The Banana Slugs fell 390-179 to the Sunbirds.
In the men's team competition, the Sunbirds won 173-119 and won 217-65 in women's.
In the men's competition, the Banana Slugs won three of the sixteen events that took place. Individually, Ethan Johnson (one-meter diving and three-meter diving) won both of his events. As a team, the Banana Slugs' best finish was in the 200-yard freestyle relay as they won that event in 1:28.87, an almost two seconds improvement from their time six weeks ago at the Slug Invite.
The women's team won one event in the fourteen events that they took part in. Individually, Elisabeth Lundgren (200-yard backstroke) had the best finish of the day as she won her event in 2:12.19. As a team, the Banana Slugs' best finish was second in the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard medley relay in 4:13.95 where Lundgren led off the Slugs and took 2.21 seconds off their time from the Slug Invite.
The next event for the Banana Slugs will be Senior Day on January 26th as they take on NCAA Division I member Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in Santa Cruz.
