Men's Volleyball to host Stanford in exhibition to open season

Two home games with Division I opponents are the highlight one of the toughest schedules in recent years as the UC Santa Cruz men's volleyball team announced their 2018-19 schedule.

Overall, the Banana Slugs will play twenty-seven Division III opponents, including six of the 12 teams that made last year's NCAA Tournament.

The Banana Slugs' first action of the season is October 20th at home against two-time national champion Stanford at Kaiser Permanente Arena. The exhibition game includes a tri-match with Menlo College.

The Banana Slugs open the regular season at Stanford on January 5th, before UCSC hosts Marian, North Central (Illinois), Arcadia and SUNY New Paltz the weekend of January 12-13 in the 2018 Slug Slam.

The Banana Slugs then have 12 straight games on the road, including two Midwest trips and a weekend southern California visit to Division II Concordia (Calif.) and Division I UC San Diego. They return home for the Redwood Invitational on Valentine's Day against Menlo and Benedictine (Arizona).

After a quick trip to UC Merced February 17th, the Banana Slugs face UC San Diego again, this time at Kaiser Permanente Arena on February 22. It will be the first visit by the Tritons to Santa Cruz since March 2002.

UCSC then hosts UC Merced and Dominican (Illinois) on March 4th before heading south for the Cal-Lu-Fornia Invitational in Thousand Oaks. After a break for finals, the Slugs will head to the East Coast for a six-game trip that includes 2018 NCAA participants Kean, Vassar, and Hunter. They close the regular season on April 13th with a visit from Cal Lutheran.
