VENTURA - Chad Le Duff made it to the semifinal round of the Ojai Tournament's Division III College men's singles bracket as UC Santa Cruz closed out their regular season.
It was the second-straight year the junior has made Ojai's semis.
Le Duff was seeded third overall and went 3-1 on the weekend. He beat both Caltech's Kevin Yu (6-1,6-0) and Lukas Chmielewski of Occidental (6-2,6-0) in straight sets. He opened Saturday defeating sixth-seed Alexis Dimanche of Southwestern 6-2,6-2 in the quarters before falling in the semis to top seed and Ojai defending champion Nikolai Parodi of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
After dropping their first round games, Chad Stone and Ryan Dugan participated in the consolation bracket, where Dugan earned three consecutive straight-set victories before withdrawing from the Consolation Final.
Floyd Penners made the semis in the Independent bracket. He beat Kyle Gillam of Cal Lutheran and George Fox's Keaten Baker in his first two matches.
Dugan and Stone, the Banana Slugs' only doubles team, went 1-1 on the weekend, making the quarterfinals before bowing out to Caltech's Varun Shanker and James Wei
