Pair of second half goals help UCSC to 4-1 Senior Day win over Sierra Nevada

SANTA CRUZ- UC Santa Cruz closed their regular season with a resounding 4-1 win over Sierra Nevada College Thursday afternoon.

It was the last home game for ten UCSC seniors, and the team came out firing right away as three of those seniors combined to give UCSC a lead they would never relinquish.

Lukas Holocher fed Ari Statler who sent a cross that Jacob Myers Norys got on the end of to put the Slugs ahead 1-0 after just five minutes. 

The game went back and forth but senior Dominique Royall finished a pass from Holocher to make it 2-0 after 32 minutes.

The Eagles answered back three and a half minutes later when Marco Aguilar stole the ball at midfield and shot a 40-yarder that caught goalie Christian Deguzman off his line to make it 2-1.

The Slugs responded less than three minutes after the restart when Holocher got on the end of a fast-break pass from Ben Blackfield and fired it past the Eagles' defense to make it 3-1. Holocher finished scoring with 16:09 left when he took a short corner from Liam Laird and fired a rocket to the right of the net for the final score.

UCSC outshot Sierra Nevada 20-12 and had an 8-3 advantage in corners. Deguzman finished with 4 saves to go over 100 in his UCSC career.
