GEORGETOWN, TX - A second half goal from Ari Sidman gave UC Santa Cruz a 1-0 win at Southwestern Sunday afternoon.
UCSC (6-10-1) broke a four-game losing streak and beat the Pirates (5-11-3) for the second straight year.
In an even first half, Southwestern had three good shots on goal, but they were all saved by goalkeeper Christian Deguzman.
UCSC broke the deadlock in the 54th minute on Sidman's goal, his second of the season.
Southwestern had a 10-8 shot advantage, but UCSC had a 6-4 advantage in the second half. Deguzman finished with five saves for his first shutout of the year.
