Many young kids dream of becoming a Big Basketball Star and making it to the NBA.
Well, former Casa Grande High School & UC Santa Cruz Basketball Player Will Crain was like a lot of those kids, except with a different end result, in mind.
This spring, Will graduated from UC Santa Cruz. Before embarking on a post-collegiate career, he will head to the Philippines to serve as a member of a Christian Mission Trip.
He will leave on Friday, July 5th out of San Francisco on a fifteen-day trip to serve people in this foreign land. During the trip, he will serve as a member of the "EMBRACE & REACH" Basketball Ministry Team which will play eight (8) games against various opponents in different regions of the country.
These "Goodwill Games" allow the Mission Ministry Project Team to reach out to thousands of Filipino Natives with a message of love and support for the survivors of Hurricanes, Floods, and Typhoons, which have hit the islands in the past year.
This is the eleventh year for the Basketball Ministry Team. There will be doctors, dentists, teachers, singers, performing artists, also on the trip serving in various capacities.
Additionally, he will help conduct a number of free Sports Clinics for kids who live in depressed areas on the island. He will also serve as a Speaker for the Campus Ministry Team which goes to Grammar, Middle, and many High Schools to share a word of encouragement.
Each of the sixty or so volunteers slated to go on this year's trip are required to raise $3,000 to join the trip. To help Will by serving as one of his sponsors, people can make a donation to the Ministry to help offset his expenses.
For more information on making a personal or corporate donation please contact Carl Foster (510) 520-1926. All donations are fully tax-deductible. The non-profit organization that oversees the Mission Project is known as: EMBRACE & REACH INTERNATIONAL
