Slugs Beat Chapman and take Ninth at WWPA Championships

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- The UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs ended their long win drought with a victory over Chapman University in the ninth place game of the Western Water Polo Association championship tournament. Behind a fantastic performance by Sophomore goalie Sam Blum and four goals from Junior Brian Fischl the Slugs pulled out to a 6-1 halftime drubbing and coasted through a bench clearing second half to secure their first win since September. Four Slug Water Polo Playes named to the "Superior" Academic All-American Team

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- Four Slug Men's water polo players, plus the UC Santa Cruz team at large, were bestowed with 2007 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-Academic Awards, which was announced by Executive Director Bryan Kimbell on Monday, April 7th. (more)

Martinez from Men's Water Polo Selected for Prestigious Health Policy Program in Washington, D.C.

SANTA CRUZ, CA -- Senior attacker Angel Martinez has been selected for the prestigious health policy program in Washington, D.C. At 12 years old, Martinez was faced dealing with his now 9 year old sister being born prematurely.
