Slugs Go 2-0 This Week Improving To 16-3 Overall!

SANTA CRUZ, CA --The UCSC Women’s Volleyball Team traveled to Oakland to play Mills College on Tuesday, September 29th, beating the Cyclones in 3 (25-14, 25-13, 25-13). Leading for Santa Cruz was Senior Opposite Roxy White who had 8 kills, 2 digs and 1 block followed by Freshman Outside Hitter Katherine Grow who hit .412 with 7 kills, no errors and 1 block. Leading the defense was Senior Libero Dana Johnson who had 23 digs and 4 aces.

On Saturday, October 3rd, UCSC hosted Menlo College who they had beat the previous week in 5 games. The Slugs dropped the first set 22-25 but then took control of the match winning the next three straight (25-16, 25-15, 25-20). UCSC had one of their best offensive matches led by Senior Outside Hitter Katie English who had a double-double with 21 kills, 12 digs, 5 aces and 2 blocks. Senior Opposite Jen Meyers also had a great night with 10 kills and 3 blocks. Rounding up the defense was Senior Libero Dana Johnson who had 29 digs and 1 ace, Senior Defensive Specialist Rosie Borchert who had 17 digs and 2 aces and Senior Defensive Specialist Sophie Manoukian who had 12 digs and 2 aces.

The Slugs host Holy Names University on Friday, October 9th at 7pm and Dominican University on Saturday, October 10th at 7pm.
